From July 13-15th 2001, the Mimbres Regional Arts Council held a Mata Ortiz Pottery Exhibit and Sale at Western New Mexico University. Juan Quezada and his extended potter family gave demonstrations on forming, decorating, and firing pottery in the traditional manner. Those who attended the entire workshop made their own pots, coached by the masters.
