| Meditation
is a practice used for calming and focusing of the mind. There are many different
mediation techniques. The technique that the Buddha first taught is concentration
on the breath. This can be done in different
ways, such as counting the breath, paying attention to the rising and
falling of the abdomen, or paying attention to the sensations of breathing
at the nostrils. The discourse on the "Four
Foundations Of Mindfulness" (this is a long one) details other objects
of meditation, along with an explanation of the Four Noble Truths, and Eight-fold
Path. |
